After obtaining a Master of Law in Leuven in 1983, Joost Declerck started his career in banking in executive functions granting SME loans, then later continuing in financing renewable energy (photovoltaic installations) as deputy manager of Belfius Lease.
Since 2014, he is active as energy efficiency promotor in Belfius Bank towards the Public, Social Profit and Corporate Clients. His tasks include developing alternative financing products for energy efficiency investments and setting up and implementing with the European Investment Bank the Private Finance for Energy Efficiency Program in Belgium. This Program helps Belfius’ customers to finance energy efficiency investments via attractive funding and an EIB portfolio guarantee. Belfius developed a specific Esco financing approach.
As relation manager with the European Investment Bank, he overlooks the very successful ‘ Smart Cities Program’ that finances innovative sustainable investment projects, run by municipalities in Belgium ( > 1,4 Bio EUR of projects financed since 2014)
